Once upon a time there were beings made of light. They didn’t have physical bodies, but they had powerful intelligence and strong intuition. Since the light people could mix and merge with their fellows to create greater lights, and then break apart to become separate again, they knew each other inside and out. In knowing each other perfectly, they loved each other perfectly. Every single individual was fully known and fully loved.
These people were artists, scientists, historians. They adored learning and experiencing new thoughts, ideas, and situations. They shared their art and knowledge instantly and freely amongst themselves. They drank deeply of all that the universe offered to them, and delighted in all they encountered.
Eventually they began taking notice of an alternate dimension where beings had physical form. They discovered a whole world filled with flying, crawling, swimming creatures composed of organic, biological components.
The light people had been merging and separating amongst themselves for eons, so it wasn’t long before they discovered how to merge with these physical beings. They shared all the physical experiences that these creatures felt, riding along with birds and fish and all sorts of insects and animals.
After the first thrill of running, flying, swimming, breathing air, eating food, feeling sun on skin, the light people were hooked. The physical beings had so many new experiences for the light people to enjoy. The physical beings also had finite lifespans, which was a new concept for the light people. Rather than just dipping into a creature’s experience, the light people started spending the entirety of these physical being’s lives connected to them. As when the light beings merged with each other, they were separate from, but also completely integrated with, the physical creature whose life they shared.
As the physical world aged, different creatures emerged, and all of them had something for the light people to learn and enjoy. Some of the physical creatures became successful enough that they developed intelligence, and when that happened, some of these intelligent physical beings suspected that they weren’t alone.
A new and fascinating stage of symbiotic development began. The semi-intelligent creatures felt the resonance of the light beings within them and created for themselves minds in imitation of the intelligence that they sensed within themselves.
Now the physical people had a physical body, a fairly useful intelligence, and a mind which was trying hard to be like that partner of light that they suspected, but could never prove, that they had. Some people called that light inside a soul.
The physical people changed their world with their powerful minds, which were imperfect replicas of the intelligence that rode along with them. Some of them denied that there was a partner of light at all, but they all used that mind that they had built in imitation, to varying degrees of success.
The physical people had created their minds in playful imitation of the light partners, but eventually they started to see those minds as the most important part of their selves. They used their minds to make rules and laws for themselves and others, and took them very seriously. They believed that the species of creature that had created a mind was more important and useful than the physical creatures who had not. They ignored the other aspects of their life and concentrated on the input from their minds.
Sometimes a physical person was able to balance the aspects of his or her self and see beyond the constructs of the limiting mind. This physical person would understand more of the nature of physical/light symbiosis, and would attempt to explain it to others, using metaphors and parables that the other physical people might understand.
Most of the people listening wouldn’t fully comprehend what the teacher was saying, but they felt or almost grasped the truth behind the words, so they knew it was important. In their imperfect understanding, they passed on the teacher’s words until the minds that heard these truths reduced them back down to nothing more than the metaphors the teacher had used, carved them in stone, and added them to the list of rules intended to control the lives of the physical people.
Each time a physical person died, the light partner that had ridden along with that person was released back into the non-physical dimension to rest and relax among his fellow light people. The physical body and the constructed mind had ceased to be, but the being of light that had been the body’s soul went on forever, and carried the memory of that entire life and the personality that had animated it.
For the light person there was great rejoicing to be reunited with all of the other light people, to be fully known and fully loved once again. The light people relaxed in the comfort of their own dimension and shared their experiences in the physical realm with each other, and then went back to the physical world to join another physical life.
